Panama, officially the Republic of Panama (Spanish: República de Panamá; IPA: [re`puβlika ðe pana`ma]), is the southernmost country of Central America. Situated on an isthmus, Panama is a transcontinental nation which connects North and South America. It borders Costa Rica to the west, Colombia to the east, the Caribbean Sea to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. It is an international businness center and is a transit country.
